Daddy @GavinNewsom called 18-40YOs “young invincibles” this month because of the spike in #covid infections amongst our age group.

In April, during the shutdown, we only accounted for 10% of deaths.

In July, 50% of new cases were from this age group.

I wonder what changed

Maybe it’s because in April #retail/ #service was mostly shut down.

Maybe it’s because when @MayorOfLA begged us to go “al fresco” he did so in May, when the city was barely making progress.

Maybe it’s because about 70% of retail workers are in the 18-40 age group.

This is information that can be Googled.

I’m not sure why politicians in our city are BAFFLED by the spike in infections amongst this age group. It’s not because we’re out drinking or shopping.

It’s because we’re serving the drinks & folding the clothes.

The same publicly available data can explain why #Latinx people are getting infected and dying at higher rates in #LosAngeles.

We’re also the ones working in #retail

I will not be gaslit by @MayorOfLA or @GavinNewsom or our City Council.

I will not let their failure to control this pandemic be put on #workers. This is not our fault.

This is a wilful sacrifice of working people that has already backfired and will continue to get worse.
