My best friend’s mom lives in Florida. She sewed 700 masks for people.

Now, Senator Feinstein is proposing denying her—and everyone else in Florida—any stimulus funding because she lives in a state where there is a lack of mask mandate.

Makes total fucking sense.
It’s also not lost on me that Feinstein sold millions in stocks before the market crashed due to the pandemic. Literally profiting off of people’s suffering.
Here is a portion of Feinstein’s statement. What’s absolutely ironic is that she’s claiming to be above partisan politics and that “this is a matter of life and death”.

But at this moment she is literally playing partisan politics and putting many people in danger.
For anyone in the comments defending this proposal by Feinstein, I'll leave you with this.

Shame on you. https://twitter.com/CreativeMrPen/status/1283936561617403906?s=20
Some people are inferring my tweet to mean that I somehow support Florida's policies or disagree with a mask mandate. A result of partisan politics--if I criticize a Democrat, I must agree with Republicans.

Of course I agree with mask mandates!

But not at the expense of people.
There are other ways to put pressure on a governor than deny funding to desperate people.

Just look at the impact of our economic sanctions in countries like Venezuela, for example--implemented to put pressure on their government but only resulting in more suffering and hunger.
Some have cited the success of the federal government withholding 10% of highway funding in order to raise the drinking age to 21.

This case is a little different. It's a proposal to withhold grocery money from already-desperate people--many unemployed and facing eviction.
Leaders need to other ways we can put pressure on governors that doesn't involve ripping the money out of the hands of desperate people.

People who cannot work, many people who have lost everything.
I don’t know how to keep making the argument that poor people shouldn’t be punished or used as pawns due to the actions of their government.
