This is just not true. When Setién was appointed Barça were tied with Madrid on 40 pts.

Since:-
Barça: 39pts (1 game remaining)
Madrid: 46pts (1 game remaining)

Barcelona were just as bad (if not worse) under EV this season. The difference has been Madrid. https://twitter.com/anaskaz1/status/1283871334594801664
Also, it’s funny that you’re excusing EV’s dropped points because he was ‘integrating new players’, but don’t give Setién any leeway when he himself was appointed midseason and was learning about the ENTIRE squad.

How is that even remotely logical?
Honestly I don’t care what happens to Setién at this point. He’s made many mistakes, enough to warrant a dismissal.

But for the love of god stop rewriting Valverde’s story. He’s one of the biggest reasons we’re in this mess.
- Who do you think is responsible for the team’s mental fragility?

- Under which manager do you think the player’s bad tactical/positional habits were developed?
- Who’s the manager who used the same 14 players week-in/week-out for 2.5 years? And you wonder why they’re all physically exhausted?

- Who’s the manager Malcolm played for, and was referring to, when he said ‘we didn’t train much at Barça’?
- Who’s responsible for the lack of development of our younger players? Semedo, for eg, arrived as a 23 y/o. The past 6 months are the first time we’ve seen him consistently being given some offensive reponsibility, & we’re surprised that his decision making & execution are bad?
- We constantly bemoan player power, but did we talk about that under Lucho? No. Then who allowed the players to become so powerful?

Now when rumors say the players turned on Setién, y’all side with the players and say Setién and Sarabia “talk too much”.

Which is it?
Like it or not, many of the problems that plague Barcelona today started under Valverde. We regressed under him every year.

What he left behind was an emotionally, mentally, and physically beaten squad. Any new manager would have struggled.

Stop rewriting that.
Again, I don’t care if Setién is sacked. He hasn’t been impressive, and I never thought he was a long term (2-3+ years) solution anyway.

But I don’t think it’s particularly wise to sack him now either. The UCL is in a few weeks, & the 20/21 season starts a few weeks after that
... that means there is not much time for a new manager to implement his ideas anyway. None of the candidates are particularly encouraging either.

I’d ride it our another season and hope for the best. 2021 we start fresh with a new board, a new coach, & a new project.
