A thread of photos from the 1918 Flu Pandemic to prove that history repeats itself forever:

First, a photo of nurses frantically making masks to compensate for the lack of supplies available. Sound familiar?
The 1918 influenza pandemic led to the closure of schools, churches, and other public locations.
Yes, even theaters were closed.
Inevitably, certain Americans became frustrated with the inconvenience of wearing a mask to protect their fellow citizens. They organized their own meetings and rallies, just like modern anti-mask groups.
Thankfully, there were many Americans who publicly advocated for mask-wearing to stop the spread of the flu. Many towns even made it mandatory to wear a mask.
As expected, there were plenty of Americans who still resisted mask-wearing ordinances. Local police would often force these individuals to wear masks before proceeding.
Sometimes there would even be violence over the issue of masks. In the headline below, an altercation with an anti-mask “slacker” led to three people being shot.
In total, roughly 675,000 Americans died of influenza during the 1918 pandemic.
However, there is one major difference — Americans were actually able to flatten the curve in 1918 with very limited technology. America does not seem to be following that trend in 2020. As it stands, the pandemic is only getting worse in the US.
