I think that its not constructive to immediately unfollow friends who are following a problematic person. Sentiments like these create environments in which people feel like they have to always be online to avoid missing anything so they can maintain their followers. It's the -
- same energy as "like this post if you're still active so I'll stay mutuals." This creates so much pressure and makes people feel like they cant step away from technology without negative actions being taken against them. I was mostly off twitter for a few days and I just -
- saw what happened today, which is awful!!! and should not be condoned through any lens; however, unfollowing friends who might not be aware of what occurred is such a punitive response to staying offline, which is a form of self care to many. Guide friends and educate -
-them if you feel able to, but please don't unfollow those who may just be unaware. Lack of awareness does not equate to direct support.
