THREAD:

You wanna know why I’m pissed off for the Class of 2020 entering the legal profession right now? It has been made clear that they don’t care about us. At all. They have shown us in different ways that they care more about an exam than our lives.
I absolutely HATE looking at the Class of 2020 signing WAIVERS of suit if they potentially get a DEADLY disease, for an EXAM and have the risk of DYING... not for surgery. FROM AN EXAM.
I HATE seeing attorneys unwilling to hire the Class of 2020 because their state opted for diploma privilege. I would like to remind everyone that we are in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC. People are being made to decide between their life and a license. A job or their life. Which is unfair.
I absolutely hate people defending an exam that has SHOWN to only be created to keep out black and people of color from the legal profession. I have gone through THREE YEARS OF LAW SCHOOL and I have worked my butt to get here. The exam is not test ones lawyering abilities. (.)
I’m not sure what more you need for us to prove to you that we are in fact competent. We went through the weeding out process to get into law school, we stayed in law school, we GRADUTED from law school with legal experience. What more do you need?
I HATE seeing the C/O 2020 studying for a bar exam thinking at any moment their exam gets canceled. Thinking have I spent MONTHS studying for an exam that will not happen? Will I get this deadly disease and DIE from taking the bar exam when they “intend” to do it?
This probably hasn’t gotten spoken up much about but I feel bad for retakers and people outside the US seeking admission. Re-takers and people outside of the US have been put on the back burner this entire time and it has been show that they don’t care about them either.
I have seen the argument of “they don’t want to take a bar exam” “the C/O of 2020 is lazy.” Let me tell you that we have worked our BUTTS off for this exam. AND who WANTS to take a bar exam!? We are far from lazy. If anything, the Class of 2020 is the strongest group of people.
We are are studying for the bar exam in a GLOBAL PANDEMIC unsure everyday if our exam will go through. We have our exams dates pushed MULTIPLE times but still kept studying and pushing through even with uncertainty.
Everyday I look down my timeline and what I see? ADVOCATES. Advocates for change that have made AMAZING arguments. That’s our job description. To be an advocate for our client/clients. We have shown that we are advocates WHILE studying for the exam that essentially means nothing.
I have seen people have job offers revoked, job start dates pushed to a later date. People unable to gain employment because they haven’t passed this exam. That... that breaks my heart. There is only one option here and it’s diploma privilege.
We are financially, mentally, physically hurting right now. Some couldn’t get bar loans & only have the loan $$ from January. Some of us had to pick up full time jobs while studying. Some are at high risk to get this deadly virus and don’t want to risk our life or our families.
I’m not going to lie. I’ve discouraged thinking about entering a field that doesn’t about me. I thought about it there is there another I can do because it feels so unwelcoming. I know there are attorneys advocating for us. It definitely doesn’t go unnoticed. I’m tired. #DP4ALL
Idk how I forgot this, but some registered for MULTIPLE jurisdictions because that’s what we were encouraged to do. Applications cost as low of $250 to over $1000. Registered for a UBE jurisdiction to find out that the score can no longer transfer because of the online exam.
Then I see screenshots of people warning us not to speak out about this issue because it will hurt us for the Character and Fitness portion.

So, basically our options are just to sit quiet or not be barred if we want our voices heard. That does not sit well with me.
