when @jimmy_daly told me that finding a job in content marketing changed his life, i found that to be incredibly inspiring.

i& #39;m proud to back jimmy today as he launches http://superpath.co"> http://superpath.co , the career hq and community for content marketers.

what& #39;s attracted me to content marketing is that it& #39;s the stuff of pure thought, not unlike writing software.

you sit in your room and write words. put them on the internet, and those can change the behavior of thousands of people you& #39;ve never met.
in that way, content is a really interesting entry point for non-technical people into tech and a place where they can make a massive impact at scale in the same way an engineer can.
@rodguze & i started @idonethis in 2011 around when @buffer and @helpscout got off the ground.

we knew nothing about business, but we saw folks like @leowid and @gregoryciotti single handedly change the trajectory of their companies with high quality and persistent content.
we went through @angelpad with @joelgascoigne and @LeoWid so we learned first hand from them by sitting next to them and seeing how they thought about and executed on content.

they drove an incredible amount of traffic, built a distinct brand, and generated revenue via content.
the great ones find the balance between art and science. they look at the data but also develop a strong intuitive sense based on knowing the customer.

as @hnshah told me, "content marketing is a creative, labor intensive enterprise"—and a lot of people don& #39;t get that.
back in 2008, @jimmy_daly was a fresh liberal arts grad who liked to read and write, but had no concept on how he& #39;d make a living.

he was aimless and did a number of odd jobs to pay the rent.
he bounced around for 2 years until a family friend hooked him up doing marketing at a web dev shop that built websites for lawyers.

he ran the blog, did some seo, and to his surprise, he loved it. he got to write, which he loved, and that was his job.
his next stop was at an agency where he dug in with his clients, created content every single day (10-12 posts/wk), and got it out there and saw how it performed.

that& #39;s where he really sharpened his writing skills and felt he could be really good at it.
from there, he went to @getvero before joining up with me at @AnimalzCo.

(there was a stint at @quickbooks in between but we don& #39;t talk about that https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="😉" title="Zwinkerndes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Zwinkerndes Gesicht">)

at @AnimalzCo, he scaled marketing and ran sales and had his hands in all aspects of growth. he had a complete skillset.
i& #39;m really proud that at @idonethis and then at @AnimalzCo, we& #39;ve brought in folks without a tech or content background, cultivated their talent and helped them grow.
@lethargarian was in law school before she joined iDT. she& #39;s a soulful writer that translated immediately to productivity/wellness content we did. her blog posts still drive hundreds of thousands of views per year.

i& #39;m super proud that she& #39;s now running content at @clearbit.
@blakethorne was a journalist at @MLive before he joined @idonethis. he was a very disciplined and organized writer that had a keen eye for interesting fact patterns. he put out high performing content at a very high cadence.

now he& #39;s a product marketing manager at @atlassian.
@charlotte_____d has gone on from @AnimalzCo to accomplish great things. she& #39;s now at @CockroachDB. same with @rezvinable and @codeclimate.
at animalz, @jimmy_daly and i started talking about how we could help and support more content marketers in their careers—especially outside of the demands of client work, which can both stimulate a tremendous amount of professional development and hold them back at times.
just as people like @jimmy_daly, @LeoWid, @gregoryciotti, @joelgascoigne, and @csavage informally supported and provided community for me starting out doing content, @jimmy_daly& #39;s building superpath to cultivate and support the next generation of content talent.
i& #39;m an investor in superpath and friend of @jimmy_daly and i& #39;m incredibly excited to see where this goes.
