I just learned #NotMyChild is trending, pushing against schools being reopened with current coronavirus risks. I agree absolutely, but always want to add: #NotMyMom
My mother is a teaching assistant at a public school & is an at-risk demographic (65+).
The school sysystem has systematically kept my mother from being considered "full-time", which prevents her from accessing full medical benefits as part of her job #NotMyMom
I understand balancing children at home with parents working is really difficult, but forcing students back into schools is not the answering. We need governmental, large scale action in order to "get back to normal". Enough of the individual-responsibility bullshit. #NotMyMom
I am so angry that in our failure to make systemic changes to prevent the spread of coronavirus, and our insistent in pretending it will just go away.

Asking people to social distance & wear a mask IS NOT ENOUGH. #NotMyMom
My mom can& #39;t afford to retire & she definitely can& #39;t afford not to work. I& #39;m not saying everyone isn& #39;t affected, but we KNOW people in certain demographic (lower socio-economic status, Black etc) are disproportionately going to be affected by this ignorance. #NotMyMom
I feel like this thread needs an ending, but I don& #39;t have one. I don& #39;t know what the answer is.

Call your lawmakers. Call your school districts. At the very least stay at home and wear your fucking masks.
