Welcome to today's edition of the WH Shadow Press Briefing. The questions are real as are the answers, well they're at least the truth so they're very different from the ones @PressSec gave. So let's get right to it.
2. Q. Maryland governor Larry Hogan said today that president Trump has left states to fend for themselves during this pandemic. He accused the president of not listening to medical experts. That is quite a takedown coming from a Republican governor.
3. A. The simple answer is he's absolutely right. We don't have a leg to stand on here. We've abdicated all of our responsibilities, and worse, gotten in the way of the states. So yeah, Hogan nailed it. Q. And how do you explain that president Trump is trailing his opponent by
4. double digits, both nationally and in battleground states with majority’s disapproving of his handling of race relations and the coronavirus response? A. Well there are a several reasons for that. Biden is a better candidate because he both knows and cares about how government
5. works. Second, he urged us early on to do more on the pandemic and it looks like he's right. Last, I think given the carnage out there people are not responding well to @realDonaldTrump claims that he's done a great job and it's gone away. Just a few thoughts on that though.
6. Q. we’ve seen the president hold a range of public events this week, but none of those events have been focused on the coronavirus. Why not? A. What do you expect him to say? This is a disaster for us and the American people and the President thinks ignoring it is the best
7. strategy. And he is a stable genius you know. Q.Surely you would agree this is the biggest challenge facing the public right now. Why aren’t we seeing it as the president’s biggest public priority? A. First, don't call me surely. Second, the coronavirus isn't the Presidents
8. top priority. His top priority is monitoring @foxnews and tweeting. He rarely thinks about the virus because he defeated it. Q. Quickly, when’s the last time he attended a task force briefing? A. Probably about three months ago, but he never paid attention in those meetings.
9. It was pretty obvious wasn't it. The bleach thing. Q.Does the White House agree that it’s not helpful for people to wait seven days or longer to get the results of their coronavirus tests? And is the White House going to do anything to try to shorten those wait times so that
10. people can get their results sooner? A. The President thinks they shouldn't be tested in the first place. More testing means more cases. Haven't you followed his logic on this. Like there would be less pregnancies if we did less pregnancy tests. I've got a lot of these...
11. they're all over the internet. Q. To follow up on that, it’s not just about the quantity of testing, it’s about the quality of testing. So is the administration doing anything specifically to make all the tests out there return quicker results? Because a lot of health
12. experts are worried that when people have to wait seven days or longer, they’re out here spreading the disease unknowingly. A. Well you're right about that but I'd refer you back to my previous answer that says more testing means more cases, so we need less testing to keep
13. people healthy Q. in our interview with CBS news, President Trump said more white people are killed as an answer to why black people are still being killed by police officers. But by population percentages, black people are about three times more likely than white people to
14. in our interview with CBS news, President Trump said more white people are killed as an answer to why black people are still being killed by police officers. But by population percentages, black people are about three times more likely than white people. A. Well POTUS
15. believes white peoples lives are way more important and valuable then black lives. So that's what he was getting at. Q. Is the president considering travel bans for members of the communist party to enter the US and is he concerned about escalation of tensions with China?
16. A. The President is desperate to change the subject and to have someone besides himself be public enemy #1. And he'll risk a world war or depression to do it. So why don't you guys lighten up on him. It's in everyones interest.
17. Q.Does the White House have a reaction to the hacking of Twitter last night? And do you have any broader concerns or does the president have any broader concerns about using that platform to issue not only his own opinions, but official policy pronouncements given it’s
18. apparent vulnerability to hacking? A. @realDonaldTrump believes it was outrageous, but not out of character, for Barack Obama to be central to an internet scam getting money for bitcoin. He wants to see Obama's birth certificate and Hillary's emails. Next.
19. Q And just one follow up to [inaudible 00:11:16] question, I guess I didn’t follow the data that you were just referring to. Are you saying that the president did have data to back up his claim that more white people are killed by police officers than black people?
20. A. Oh the President has access to the data, but he doesn't read. But even if he knew, he'd still make the point because he thinks data is fake news. Q.And just one follow up to [inaudible 00:11:16] question, I guess I didn’t follow the data that you were just referring to.
21. Are you saying that the president did have data to back up his claim that more white people are killed by police officers than black people? A. Why do you keep asking about data. We don't need no stinking data here.
22. Q. When the president made the initial decision to move the Republican National Convention from Charlotte to Florida, he said that it was because the North Carolina governor was in a shut down mood and that he is playing politics because he didn’t want to pack an indoor
23. stadium to full capacity. He also said that the cost to North Carolinians would be, and I’m quoting the president now, all of the jobs and the economic development the convention would bring. So all of that money, all of that time, all of that costs to jobs and economic
24. to North Carolinians for the same result, right? Because the [inaudible 00:13:34] the convention in Florida. What does the president have to say in North Carolinians? A. The President is well aware how much money N. Carolina is losing and what a nasty thing it was to pull
25. out when he did. But the President will always put settling a personal grudge ahead of the people and he's done that here. Q. The president has talked about an executive order on immigration coming soon. He’s also talked about protections for DACA recipients. It’s been
26. unclear though, whether those protections, the path to citizenship that the president talked about will be included in the executive order. So I was hoping you could clarify, will the path to citizenship protections for [inaudible 00:14:14] to be part of the executive order?
27. A. Let me make something pretty clear -- the President doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to DACA. So don't pay attention. If you want to know his views though check with some of the kids in cages.
28. Q. The vice president talked about some of the new guidelines or new pages of documents for CDC coming out this week. Is that still the plan? Are those going to come out this week? Is there any chance that this is being rethought at this time? A. Don't worry about the plan.
29. @VP also said we shouldn't let the CDC guidelines, derived from science, get in the way of opening schools. Now don't twist my words here. I'm saying science has nothing to do with it, and @VP agrees.
30. Q. On Wednesday, the CDC director said, “If all of us would put on a face covering now for the next six weeks, I think we could drive this epidemic into the ground.” Admiral Giroir has made similar comments. The CDC director called it our “major defense.” I’m wondering if the
31. president would consider at any point a nationwide mask amendment? A. That's a clown question bro--of course not. The President believes its a question of individual liberty just like he thinks black football players should be fired for kneeling during the national anthem
32. Don't hold us to being consistent for god's sake. Q. ou were saying earlier that the president is very concerned about local officials who are not taking actions about deaths in their cities. You also said he was appalled by what happened to George Floyd. In March a 26 year
33. old black woman named Breonna Taylor was killed while sleeping in her home. The three officers involved in that case in Kentucky have not been arrested or fired. Is the president monitoring that case at all. And does he want to see justice for Breonna Taylor? A. The President
34. only monitors the cases of white people being killed. Q.Another question on China. President Trump is the only US president to have stood strong against China, which is of great comfort to countries like India and his other allies in the Asian neighborhood. Does he has a
35. message to China on this and has he spoken to China, other countries, how to collaborate against china? A. Yes, the President wants to know where Hunter Biden. Q. A question that flows from two of events that we saw recently that we wouldn’t have seen at previous White
36. Houses. The first was a campaign meeting in the cabinet room last month, and then the political speech in the Rose Garden this week. Can you talk about your understanding of what the White House policy is for this White House? As far as politics, is there any place in the
37. in the White House where you think politics is inappropriate and where do you draw the line? A. You have to understand we are different from every other White House. We don't do policy or governing, we only do politics. So it's not confusing to do it everywhere. Get it?
38. By the way, one of the regulations we got rid of is the Hatch Act. Q. Well, you talked about earlier with school districts but we’re seeing more school districts, at least in Virginia, for example, last night, deciding to go online only. What does the president say to
39. parents out there who are now going, what do I do with my kids? A. Get over it. He can't win the election without using the school issue against Biden. So if some kids, teachers and parents die, it's the cost of doing business.
40. Q.The US, Canada and the UK today accused of Russia of trying to hack coronavirus vaccine research. I was wondering if the president has a response to Russia for that. A. That's weird because the President wanted to give it to Putin. More money to Putin means more money to
41. Trump organization. Q. So I wanted to follow on that briefly. There’s been some complaints, particularly among independent modelers who are using the CDC data that was updated daily to sort of put out their public model. Some of which the White House has
42 has relied, now those dashboards have been taken down. So I’m wondering if the administration would sort of commit to making the broader database of it more available to the public? A. I'm only answering the question that I planted with OANN. And since we don't print those
43. exercises in state propaganda here at the shadow briefing, I don't know what the question is. I will say the President thinks he's doing a great job and less data means less deaths. Let me make a self righteous speech here before I drop the mic. VP Biden led an effort on
44. Ebola and two Americans died. @realDonaldTrump is up to 145K. So who do you think did better. I thought so. I'm gone.
