ok since some ppl were interested here’s an in-depth thread on why i think goroham should be friends
(since hamuko is technically a silent protag, her characterization here is based largely on my own interpretations of her in both canon content and in spin-offs, etc.) anyways! here goes
- look at this pic
- hamuko constantly pranking goro is the ultimate dynamic. who doesn’t wanna see goro being bullied a little
- they don’t interact much besides this but that’s besides the point
- they’re both orphans (ignoring shido’s existence) and have little to no positive experience w family. it has made them numb/uncaring to the rest of the world and to other people (kotone, or femc’s signature phrase in the stageplay is “i don’t care about it”)
- the difference is that hamuko finds a support group, goro doesn’t. because hamuko learns how to live again and treasure her bonds, she can help goro to do the same, as they both come from similarly tragic backgrounds
- they both mask their inner turmoil with smiles and a pretense of strength. they’ve both done this for so long they don’t know how to be vulnerable
- in pq2, fuuka says about hamuko, “if only she could open up more”
- in other words!! they could work on being more open together
- their colors go extremely well together. very red. 10/10
- hamuko who is a ray of sunshine vs goro the serious broody one
- personally i think hamuko wouldn’t fall for goro’s facade given she does the same thing so she could draw his true self out more easily than others https://twitter.com/nonnecheri/status/1137221434848104449">https://twitter.com/nonnecher...
- hamuko is also more bluntly honest while goro (pre-third semester) is restrained and passive aggressive. he would find her ability to speak her mind refreshing, like w ren— maybe even envy it
- also the mere fact that she’s a wild card is a point of interest for goro
- slightly less related, but in pq2 it’s established goro has similarities to shinji and ken + gets along well with koromaru. naturally, hamuko would be able to see those similarities as well and be able to connect with him like she did with her teammates
(this also means goro would fit in very well with SEES but that’s a whole other thing)
- the BIGGEST similarity is (spoilers for both games ahead) that they both sacrifice themselves for other people. hamuko for her team, goro for the phantom thieves. there’s a little more nuance than that but c’mon them meeting as ghosts would be totally sick
i’ll add more to this thread if i feel like it but the bottom line is, goroham has great potential despite interacting like three times and you should all stan w me
