1/? Hourly pay is trash. It gives you the notion that you cannot vacation, call in sick, or take a day off because you need every dollar you can get. That work > family (this is especially true for part time employees who typically do not accrue sick/vacation/personal time)
2/? As someone who has worked multiple jobs for a multitude of years until I have the job I’m in now, I can’t tell you how many birthdays/family gatherings/parties I’ve missed due to needing all the hours I could get. Work is not more important than life
3/? We should move towards salary pay for full time and part time positions. And if the employee needs/wants to work OT, then they can do that. But having your hours vary from week to week is trash and sets people up to stay poor/be unable to get another source of income
4/? Let people take days off. Let them be able to fully reset and not worry week to week what their hours will be. Less stressed employees will typically focus more at work and be more efficient while they’re there
