Finally had a chance to go through the White House Coronavirus Task Force report published by @publicintegrity that shows Nevada in the "red" zone. Some thoughts:
This report, which pulls data through 7/14, shows Nevada at 5,239 new cases in the last week. As of today, there have been 6,848 cases reported in the last week. The report shows us at 173 new cases per 100K in the last seven days; we're now at 222 new cases per 100K.
So, although we're in the "red zone" for having more than 100 new cases per 100K in the last week, those numbers are actually even higher as of today.
The report also notes Nevada has seen "stability" in new cases and a decrease in test positivity over the past week. We did, kinda, for a bit, but those numbers have gone back up a little bit in recent days. (You'll notice their testing graph is different b/c it's total tests.)
Interestingly, per the White House's metrics, Nevada is in the green for number of diagnostic tests per 100,000 in the last week, even though the test positivity is red. What that means: Yes, there is a lot of testing, but we're also finding a high % of positives as we test.
Also important to note, though Nevada is in the red, it's mostly Clark's doing. Washoe, Elko, Nye, Carson, Lyon and Churchill are in the yellow.
The document lays out recommendations for counties in the red (Clark). I'll list just the ones that Nevada/Clark aren't already doing:
- Limit social gatherings to 10 or fewer
- Close gyms
- Dining should be outdoors
For yellow counties (Washoe, Elko, Nye, Carson, Lyon and Churchill) the recommendations are:
- Gyms limited to 25% occupancy
- Create outdoor dining opportunities
- Limit social gatherings to 25 or fewer
