Ok I've started Queenie and I already don't like it. I'll report back at the end.
Sambo?????
And so many unnecessary descriptions of how beautiful all these white people are with pale skin and light eyes. I don't understand what I'm reading.

You know what's confusing me, all these "I'm the only black in the village" anecdotes, but... you chose to live that way....???
???? Explain Adi because I don't understand.
This honestly reads like Wattpad erotica written by curious teens fantasising about things they've never experienced.
Queenie as a character is mad and has noone to tell her.
I like the Kyazike date anecdote, that was amusing, relatable even
This author has a strange obsession with white people. How do all of them have bright eyes specked with gold, I am screaming.
Is this a memoir? Like a 'coming to my blackness as an adult when I grew up with a white world view' type thing or? Because it's very confusing.
Also Queenie is insufferable.
Also Queenie is insufferable.
Pathetic even, she's pathetic. Desperately self-loathing and pathetic without even an iota of self esteem and still self absorbed.

It just gets worse.
Nah, I'm sorry, is this a fucking joke?? Terrified of black guys as if the last 200+ pages haven't been riddled with stories or white guys mistreating, harming, using, denigrating, ghosting, and insulting her??
AND YOU LOT HAD THE AUDACITY TO ALLOW THIS TO BECOME A BESTSELLER???
AND YOU LOT HAD THE AUDACITY TO ALLOW THIS TO BECOME A BESTSELLER???
No therapist worth their shit would ever write such a letter. And certainly not an NHS one.
This author has some very serious issues with blackness that she needs to address
Trash. Queenie is trash and all of you need to answer for your crimes.
In the interests of fairness I feel compelled to tell you that there were some nice elements in terms of the way Queenie's interactions with her grandparents, and Kyazike's storytelling were captured. That's all the good I have to say. Big up the author for scamming the world.
If you liked White Teeth your wayward self will probably tell me you enjoyed this. If you have sense and taste and hated White Teeth (raises hand) you will not like this.
