The inability to move past "red brick" bias in thinking about historic value is precisely why we have huge gaps in our heritage. It means we lose entire periods, styles, and movements in design simply because they don't conform to rigid standards or interpretation of value.

Obviously, the red brick Edwardians and Beaux-Arts buildings are important, but I would argue that the built form of #ualberta campus from the 50s, 60s, 70s is much more definitive of the story of the institution, architecture, our city, and province.

The @UAlberta is the steward of some of the most significant pieces of Modern architecture in Edmonton. Recent years have seen many languish or demolished. Deferred maintenance is a decision.
