if you dont think it& #39;s within governmet discression to force blood donations, you also shouldn& #39;t think its within their discression to ban abortions.

a thread
1/ im not even going to argue the value of the fetus& #39; life. really, it doesn& #39;t matter- and i& #39;ll tell you why- but for sake of argument, the life of an unborn fetus is just as valued as any born baby.
2/

let& #39;s introduce you to a fun little phrase called "bodily autonomy," sometimes referred to as "bodily integrity." this is generally considered to be a fundamental human right, and it basically means that any person has complete say in the decisions, governance, and exchanges
3/

of their own body.

"but what about the fetus& #39; autonomy then? they dont choose to die" i can hear you saying. don& #39;t worry, we& #39;ll come back to that.

blood donation, for the part of the population that can partake, is a safe and harmless procedure if done correctly and
4/

and within proper safety requirements.

it can be done every 8-16 weeks, and a single pint of blood can save up to 3 lives. and this blood is so vital to so many: 1/10 people entering the hospital for care end up needing donated blood. whatever, what does all of this mean?
5/

just because a part of your body can save a life doesn& #39;t mean it isn& #39;t yours to choose and give up.

when was the last time you were made to feel guilty for not donating blood? you should really do it more often than you do, no? and, hey, you& #39;re not alone, only 10% of the
6/

US population does annually. but whether you do ever feel pressured to, or whether you (probably) don& #39;t- that is your blood. it is within your right to give or withhold it as you please.
7/

it doesn& #39;t matter if it saves one life, three lives.

it doesnt matter if you have no negative health repercussions at all.

it doesn& #39;t matter if you were just being lazy or didn& #39;t feel like it.

right?
8/

a fetus is dependent on the body of it& #39;s mother/carrier to survive. it is not dependent on their care- but their BODIES. otherwise they die.

so i don& #39;t give a shit if that baby didn& #39;t choose to die. neither do those in need of blood plasma, or marrow donations. neither do
9/

those needing organ donations of people in life long vegetative states, unlikely to ever wake up.

just because someone will die without someone else& #39;s body doesn& #39;t mean they have any right to it.
10/

it doesnt matter if the mother/carrier& #39;s body will save the life of the fetus.

it doesn& #39;t matter if they can healthily carry the pregnancy.

it doesn& #39;t matter if their reason is that they just didn& #39;t feel like having a baby.

right? right.
11/

and that is valuing the life of a fetus/embryo at the highest potential possible. you want to sacrifice my rights for a cluster of cells? nice fucking try.

but one more time, again, even louder for the ones in the back, just in case there is any POSSIBLE confusion:
12/

even if it was the same as a fully formed baby it is my. body. not the baby& #39;s. not any mans. not the government& #39;s. not anyone& #39;s but mine alone. and i have that fundamental right.

my. body.
