The idea that racism has not decreased over the last 30 years is just patently false. #HasBritainChanged
Unconscious bias is an interesting one, because it can never really be consciously ascertained or removed. It’s one that slowly phases out generationally, but it is also inevitable. We all create and form biases based on what we see/are exposed to.
Including black people constantly being exposed to negative depictions and perceptions of the police & white people, and it also goes for white people that are constantly exposed to negative/divisive imagery of black people.
I really do also question the veracity of the polls being shown in this, because it is based on personal perception rather than anything that can be tangibly confirmed.
Are we going to mention that polling shows that 70% of black people 16 and over have trust in their local police?? This Chante extremist on this panel is so random🤦🏽‍♀️
“People are dying” - NO THEY ARE NOT. Stop LYING. 1 black person died in police custody last year 🤦🏽‍♀️🥴
@ShaunBaileyUK is completely right that history shapes the way young black boys in particular feel about themselves and perceive the country they are living in. I’ve done threads about this before. Black British contributions are not just steeped in victimhood
As soon as he tries to speak he gets cut off 🧐
And no as a black person I don’t believe BLM has improved the conversation. It has certainly shone a light on the way we talk about race, but as usual a small amount of extreme voices are being pushed as sensible when it’s just the opposite.
