(Thread) Today, a nationwide poll of 4,187 @McDonalds workers along with a survey of 116 McDonald's locations across 12 states was released examining store locations and the company's response to COVID. Here's what the shocking results show…

32% of @McDonalds worker respondents reported that at least one of the following pieces of critical safety equipment was unavailable or limited: gloves; face masks; hand sanitizer; hand soap; and cleaning supplies to clean work surfaces, bathrooms, and other areas
72% of workers indicated that their @McDonalds location does not offer paid sick leave — and nearly 1 in 5 (18%) report having to come to work feeling sick during the pandemic, mostly because they lack paid sick leave.
A big reason for this is the company's lobbying efforts to the Trump administration to exclude the majority of McDonald's from paid sick leave legislation under COVID-19, and their work with the International Franchise Association to ensure broad industry carve outs.
Nearly half (44 percent) of @McDonalds workers report that they have been VERBALLY OR PHYSICALLY THREATENED OR ABUSED by McDonald’s customers refusing to follow safety guidelines, or they've been involved in altercations among customers over safety guidelines.
For example, on June 27, a 19-year-old @McDonalds worker in Oakland was attacked by a customer after asking him to put on a mask. According to the Cal-OSHA complaint, the man hit the worker, grabbed her neck, and hurled racial and misogynistic slurs
Nearly two thirds (64 percent) of surveyed workers continue to report that it is "somewhat difficult" (26%) or "very difficult" (38%) to maintain six feet of distance from coworkers and customers. 53% of surveyed stores showed a lack of social distancing.
Although @McDonalds COVID-specific guidelines require workers who handle food or work in service areas to wear gloves, store surveyors observed workers from a majority of visited stores (56 percent) not wearing gloves.
. @McDonalds guidelines require that stores make hand sanitizer or hand wipes available to customers in the service area or the store’s vestibule. Surveyors found that well over half of the surveyed stores, 60 percent, did not make hand sanitizer or wipes available to customers
15% of @McDonalds workers report knowing about a confirmed case of coronavirus at their store, but of them, 46% report NEVER BEING NOTIFIED BY THEIR EMPLOYER. They had to learn some other way - sometimes through the news media.
Of folks who knew of COVID cases in their store, 45% report say their store was never closed or sanitized! And 36% of workers who were forced to quarantine as a result of the outbreak were not paid at all during that time.
In conclusion, @McDonalds is systematically failing to protect the safety and wellbeing of workers. Which is why we're on strike and will walk off on Monday for fair workplaces and safety on the job. Learn more: https://bit.ly/STRIKE4BL  #FightFor15 #StrikeForBlackLives
