a very cool project happening right now @facingsouth during our 50th anniversary year: one of our summer interns, Grace Abels, is tracking down people featured in Southern Exposure, the print forerunner of Facing South, which was published for several decades

and this week, she has a new interview out with radical lesbian activist Mab Segrest, who's been active in the South's LGBTQ movement since the 1970s https://www.facingsouth.org/2020/07/mab-segrest-building-southern-freedom-movement-all
reading these is a good reminder for me of how long movements for justice and freedom have been happening in the South — and how so many of the conversations we're having right now have been happening for decades, if not centuries.
