I love that ttrpg shows have inspired so many people to try out dm'ing! I think something that isn't shared enough tho, is that there's no ONE way to do a game. As a DM it's sooo important to plan your game based on what you AND your players enjoy
There's nothing worse than planning a game, diving into it...and realizing your players are REALLY not into it. And that happens sometimes! It's trial and error and setting up a clear line of communication
So, while it's awesome to be inspired by how others run their games, it isn't a one size fits all. Take the time to figure out what you enjoy, and talk to your players about what they like too!
Anyway, not trying to be preachy. Just something that seems to come up a lot when people are new to dm'ing
