Corsets were not an invention of the patriarchy. Men HATED them because, like with makeup, it meant they couldn't judge women's bodies as easily. They hated being "tricked" into thinking women had different proportions than they actually did.
Women stopped wearing them because of the world wars, when materials were scarce and they had to be thrifty about their undergarments, not because of comfort.
Most women, as in like 99% of them, did NOT tight lace their corsets, especially not so their organs were completely squashed. Rich people gala fashions don't reflect reality, and neither do photoshopped pictures (yes, the Victorians could edit photos).
