APOLOGY

I tweeted that John Boyne has engaged in transphobia, implying that he is transphobic, on a number of occasions.
I have been informed that John Boyne is not transphobic, therefore, I retract and apologise. 1/5
I tweeted that no transgender person would appear with John on a radio interview with Ryan Tubridy in 2019.
I have been informed that, in fact, no transgender person was invited to appear, therefore, I retract and apologise. 2/5
I tweeted that John created a sock account called @/paperdo06939334 to tweet him supportively. I based this, in part, on the account following his publishers. I have been informed that he is not published by Macmillan Children's Books UK, therefore, I retract and apologise. 3/5
I have been informed that my tweets criticising John, his "Why I support trans rights but reject the word "cis"" article in the Irish Times, and his "My Brother's Name Is Jessica" book, were relentless harassment that has caused him great distress. 4/5
I am sorry, as this was never my intention. I have deleted these tweets about John, and I will not tweet about him, or his work, in the future.

I will be making no further comment on this. 5/5
