#Maharashtra is so devoted to Shivaji Maharaj. It's inspiring!
Do the #Tamilians think the same way about Raja Raja Chola of the ~2000 year-old Chola dynasty or does the #East think the same way about Lachit Borphukan of the ~600 year old Ahom dynasty?
RajaRaja Chola-I was a renowned king who ruled over the Chola kingdom of southern India between 985 and 1014 CE. During his reign, the Cholas expanded beyond South India with their domains stretching from Sri Lanka in the south to Kalinga in the north.
Raja Raja Chol built the Brihadeeswarar Temple in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu, one of the largest Hindu temples devoted to Lord Shiva During his reign. #CholDynasty
Lachit Borphukan was a commander and Borphukan in the Ahom kingdom, located in present-day Assam, India, known for his leadership in the 1671 Battle of #Saraighat that thwarted a drawn-out attempt by Mughal forces to take over Ahom kingdom.
The final battle of Saraighat started in 1671. On the day of battle, Lachit was terribly unwell. However, despite being ill, he displayed tremendous valour, extraordinary bravery and exemplary leadership. Such an action by an ailing yet forceful Lachit motivated his troops.
They fought the battle with fierce zeal and intense courage. The #Mughal army suffered comprehensive defeat in the hands of Lachit’s army. Owing to his unparallel heroism, Lachit has been a hero and an inspiration for generations of Assamese. 🙏
