Trolling isn’t some exclusive realm of epic discourse— most people are trolls now & it’s actually more contrarian to be serious & reasonable these days. I think this is the major delusion of the fringe internet— that they’re doing “unique” form of trolling. It’s not.
Everyone is extremely online— all of the forum rhetoric pedagogy has bled into instagram comments & facebook replies. Everyone is a troll now.
The ironic extremism to post-ironic extremism pipeline is what happens when you troll so hard you troll yourself into believing your own troll. A position taken as a rhetorical move is defended & then when found undefeated is adopted in earnest, subconsciously.
The Chad-Yes.jpg is exactly this coming to self-consciousness. It was “this but unironically” (still ironic) pushed forward to pure acceptance of absurdity/ideology. “You trolled yourself into believing your own troll”

“Yes.”
“And what about it?”

Who are the NPCs now? Most of you speak in readymade meme replies. This is “cognitive freedom” you think?
