Stop being afraid of silence.

It can be our best teacher.
Seriously.

Sometimes (a lotta times) we gotta trade hot takes for reading more. Listening more. Thinking more. Considering more. Reflecting more.

I have a 2 hour time limit set on twitter and IG and it does wonders not just for my productivity-but for my growth.
I am also faaaar less stressed out spending less time #OnHere and am able to concentrate on the long term important things, not just the short term (often justified) outrage.

It’s better for my health & my purpose.
We don’t have to have an opinion on everything. We don’t have to share partially informed opinions. We should certainly not share poorly informed opinions. And we don’t have to have FOMO online when life is right in front of us.

Alignment, family. Alignment.
I’d much rather know my work helped people than know a quick take got a lot of likes on a TL that will disappear in hours.

This is an important medium, but it’s not the only medium. We can grasp the moment.

But we must also build what is bigger than us-that outlives us
For those asking-I used the screen time limit on my iPhone. It’s extremely helpful because I do so much work on my phone and the “you’ve passed your limit” screen is helpful when my thumbs open the apps strictly from muscle memory:
That two hours will pass faster than you thought, especially when you are used to just mindlessly scrolling lol.

It helps me to use these apps with more intention: is there something I *truly* feel led to say, read or learn? It makes you focus, bc you don’t have time to waste
The temptation to be first has us killing off our leaders on twitter when they aren’t dead.

The temptation to be loud can have us-myself included-be loud and wrong.

The pressure to respond to everything will have us out of our depth quickly.

It’s ok to pause. Be intentional
And YES one of our WiFi networks is called “for the 99s and 2000s” 😂😂😂😂
My aspiration is to be a person who only speaks when I have something to say-and that those things are informed by my values and a collective responsibility to doing better.

I fail all the time. But the aspiration remains clear to me. Boundaries (like screen time limits) help.
This season in my life has been FULL of tough and beautiful lessons.

I can only learn them when I’m silent enough to hear them.

I want to stop making God walk thru the clutter of my anxious brain to get to me. I want the light of the aha moment to break through easily.
Hope y’all have a safe, beautiful & productive day-whatever “productivity” needs to look like.

For me? That means getting off the phone so this migraine medicine can finish working LOL and reminding you:

Wear a mask. ❤️
