so you& #39;re a new and/or small artist on twitter and you followed everything in my previous thread. you want to start posting your art more but dont understand image cropping, the best times, or dimensions. what now? a thread:

IMAGE CROPPING
- twitter will auto focus on any TEXT or FACE it detects in an image.
- to get around this, trying putting your signature next to where you want twitter to focus on, that way it will auto focus on that part of your art!
- make a throwaway twit acc to test cropping

FORMAT
- twitter LOVES the 16:9 image format. that is how it will preview in the crop.
- i find that if you want to post vertical art, its better to do it in a photoset of 2. that way the crop changes to vertical format. (you can cheat by having the 2nd img be a detail zoom shot)

FIGHTING TWITTER IMAGE COMPRESSION
- it seems like every dang month twitter changes how compression works
- posting pngs are now BAD. jpegs are BETTER.
- posting at 300 dpi but reducing the pixel size will give you the best image quality. (i usually post at 300dpi 1200px x 850px)

PEAK TWITTER HOURS:
- now you can just google "best twitter post times (insert country)" and probably get an infograph image result
- idk if i agree with most of these results, but the best way to find out the hours to post is to just...POST.
- my peak hours are 5-9pm est

TAGGING
- tags are an extremely useful tool, much like on instagram. however tags are ugly as hell, try not to use more than 2-4, especially if they are long
- tagging fanart with the character name & series is usually the way to go!
- ppl love aesthetic descriptions. use emojis!

CLEARING UP A FEW THINGS:
- pngs are only compressed if they are LARGER than 800 x 800 pixels.
- if you post at 300 dpi REDUCE THE PIXELS SO YOUR ART DOESNT GET STOLEN BY BOTS (<1200 px)

okay wait its 900 x 900 pixels* (my bad everyone i remembered my own test wrong.)
