I know you guys already stan @kalieshorr about as much as someone can be stood, but I'm going to give you another reason. We filmed a spot for a livestream inside a music venue. Social distancing was not possible on stage, and I wasn't singing, so I wore a mask. 1/7
After Kalie's first song, the guy in charge stopped us and said I had to take my mask off. There was a bit of confusion because he kept saying "bass player" and I was playing pedal steel, but can't blame him for that. Sometimes people think it's a keyboard. 2/7
I asked if I had to take my mask off, he said yes. I said it made me uncomfortable and someone said, "You won't get it!" I was processing what to do and Kalie (who had COVID-19!) stood up for me saying "What if she's immunocompromised?" and "What difference does it make?" 3/7
I leaned over and said she didn't have to go to bat for me and she said, "No, we're not doing this." (As in, we're not negotiating.) There was some discussion among Kalie's manager and the crew and eventually they said I could wear my mask. 4/7
We played the rest of the thing and I don't think I played great, for whatever it's worth! My mind was elsewhere. After, Kalie apologized and I was like, YOU definitely do not owe me an apology. 5/7
She said, "Who am I going to stand up to? A guy with a livestream or someone who played my first full-band show and who I want to have at my last full-band show?" So I'll cry about that in therapy later. 6/7
The guy in charge later apologized for embarrassing me, which like, no dude. You embarrassed yourself. All that is to say: Kalie isn't all talk and no action. She's did the right thing and as the kids are saying, we stan a legend. 7/7
