I know you guys already stan @kalieshorr about as much as someone can be stood, but I& #39;m going to give you another reason. We filmed a spot for a livestream inside a music venue. Social distancing was not possible on stage, and I wasn& #39;t singing, so I wore a mask. 1/7
After Kalie& #39;s first song, the guy in charge stopped us and said I had to take my mask off. There was a bit of confusion because he kept saying "bass player" and I was playing pedal steel, but can& #39;t blame him for that. Sometimes people think it& #39;s a keyboard. 2/7
I asked if I had to take my mask off, he said yes. I said it made me uncomfortable and someone said, "You won& #39;t get it!" I was processing what to do and Kalie (who had COVID-19!) stood up for me saying "What if she& #39;s immunocompromised?" and "What difference does it make?" 3/7
I leaned over and said she didn& #39;t have to go to bat for me and she said, "No, we& #39;re not doing this." (As in, we& #39;re not negotiating.) There was some discussion among Kalie& #39;s manager and the crew and eventually they said I could wear my mask. 4/7
We played the rest of the thing and I don& #39;t think I played great, for whatever it& #39;s worth! My mind was elsewhere. After, Kalie apologized and I was like, YOU definitely do not owe me an apology. 5/7
She said, "Who am I going to stand up to? A guy with a livestream or someone who played my first full-band show and who I want to have at my last full-band show?" So I& #39;ll cry about that in therapy later. 6/7
