1/ I've seen more than a few examples of shitty leadership during this crisis. I thought to myself, what would my policy be? If I were a CO, here's what I would put out:
2/ Disclaimer! This policy has not undergone legal review (sorry @WTF_Judge), but I did read at least 3 regulations when writing this. I also understand that not every unit would be capable of implementing a policy like this.
3/ To protect Soldiers and families during the COVID-19 pandemic, the following policies are in effect until further notice:

The APFT/ACFT will not be conducted. HT/WT and ABCP assessments will not be conducted.
4/ Individuals currently flagged for APFT failure or currently enrolled in the ABCP may request an APFT or ABCP assessment in order to have their flag lifted. They are not required to do so.

Collective PT (including the use of video conference) is not authorized.
5/ All PT will be conducted individually at the Soldier's residence. PT will be conducted at least 4 times per week. Soldiers will direct their own PT plan, using FM 7-22 as a reference, but are encouraged to reach out to our MFTs for help drafting a program.
6/ The primary duty location for all Soldiers is their current residence. Individual Soldiers may be required to come in on a case by case basis to handle critical unit functions, to be approved by the commander.

Safety of the Soldier and family are paramount.
7/ To the greatest extent possible, Soldiers and families should shelter in place at their residence, wear masks when in public, and avoid places where social distancing cannot be maintained.

The duty week will be Tuesday - Friday for the duration of this policy.
8/ At least one designated leader will be 'on-call' every Monday.

The duty day will be from 9-3 for the duration of this policy. Soldiers with families are highly encouraged to spend as much time with them as possible.
9/ Work and unit collaboration and meetings will be conducted via MS Teams. Army computers / NIPR access will be distributed as best as possible.
10/ Assistance configuring personal computers to access Army websites, configuring MS Teams, and other IT issues will be available to all Soldiers.

The primary mission of all Soldiers at this time is development. Physical, Personal, Professional.
11/ We will complete any mission-essential tasks as determined by the Command team, but as much as possible Soldiers should focus on their own development, and the development of their subordinates.

Soldiers will complete any Army-required online learning.
12/ The reading lists of the CSA and SMA will be posted, and Soldiers are encouraged to form book clubs on MS Teams to discuss what they are learning.

Soldiers currently pursuing online degrees are encouraged to dedicate more time to their studies.
13/ Soldiers not currently enrolled in classes are encouraged to find other ways to further their education.
14/ For online learning, Soldiers should use resources like Khan Academy, edX, Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare, and other online resources to further their education - but are not required to spend their own money.
15/ Soldiers are also encouraged to write - a personal journal, reflective essays, fiction, poetry, training materials, white papers on military strategy, etc.
16/ The above suggestions are just a few examples of the ways you can use this time to better yourselves - Soldiers are encouraged to find the developmental path that works best for them.
17/ This thing kind of got away from me, but I think you get where I'm going. Whatcha think, #miltwitter (especially current or former commanders)? Good, bad, absurdly idealistic, downright dumb?
