it isnt just bad because dept chairs can be a mix, but also because it produces lots of variation that will be confusing to students, staff, and faculty.
I am so glad that @Carleton_U has handled this well--responsible decisions, clearly communicated, student health prioritized

I have often envied U of T: they have such a deep faculty, great students, funky library, lots of resources.
But if this thread is half-true, I don't envy UofT any longer.
