You know what’s emotionally jarring? Supporting Palestine as a Kurd when I know Palestinians supported Saddam’s genocide and Arabization campaigns against Kurds, and knowing that Palestinians still have statues of Saddam in some of their villages.

And supporting Palestine isn’t made easier when it’s a fact that so many Palestinians support Erdogan and his anti-Kurdish campaigns. And to add to that, it’s a miracle if I ever see Palestinians stand up with Kurds during difficult times.

And even with all that, I still support Palestine. I support them because we Kurds understand their struggle more than most people, and their people deserve freedom and peace just like our people. But it isn’t easy to support them, because they always support our oppressors.
