Learned a few things this morning at Diversity and Inclusion in Nuclear UK 2020 conference! @daiuknuc Thank you to everyone who made it happen. Gonna thread a few of my main takeaways.
Assimilation does not equal inclusion. Companies should change and be flexible to include a diverse talent pool rather than expecting that talent pool to change to ‘fit in’.
Inclusion does not automatically follow from diversity. The workplace culture must allow people to bring their whole selves to work and to thrive in order to retain, not just attract a diverse workforce.
Inclusion is a process that should constantly be reviewed, not just a box to be ticked once then forgotten.
A workplace culture is defined by the worst behaviours that are tolerated. You can’t be a silent ally.
