what if magic was some kind of escapism for chikage?

i'm gonna bring up itaru bc i have brainrot and they're REALLY similar in a lot of things but i'm specifically thinking abt their forms of escapism.

the both of them obsess over their passion (games and curry), and they make
it a point where they separate the things that give them escape from their usual lives as much as possible, so that they won't get ruined and tainted and as a result, they have diff versions of themselves (taruchi and chikausa)

itaru said in kniroun that he got into acting as a
chuuni bc it's another form of his own escapism other than games.

so with my kinnie mind i connect two and two (absolutely nothing) together and behold: chikage likes doing magic bc it's also one of his ways of distracting himself from his traumatic life
i'd like to think that i make sense bc it does to me fbdjdjd like. magic is a thing that people are amazed at, and can't quite believe. if chikage fixates himself in something that people are astounded at, maybe he'll be perceived better. he'll be looked at nicely, and maybe he
might fall for his own tricks himself.

but the thing is, magicians aren't mesmerized by their own tricks, because they know everything about them. all the details, every process. knowing the truth removes the entire purpose of "magic."
...and this is where i bring up the fact that chikage's always been lying to others, and to himself.

knowing the truth of unfortunate circumstances and accepting them when it's easier to run away and to continue lying...

maybe chikage shares the same sentiments as magicians,
just like how he does with rabbits.

i'm so ahdiajdjjksk over this thread chikage please just open up <333
