The AFL have such a long way to go.

The AFL and all clubs like to pretend they are progressive and care about women. They do not. We are mad at Collingwood right now, which is fair. But would your club do the right thing? Probably not. I don’t think mine would.

We have examples from so many clubs and none are good. Not one.

And don’t just think about the player accused. How does the team support them? How do they act. And I don’t just mean Collingwood.
Remember a much loved Saints player trying to start a fundraiser for Milne?
Do we remember that tweet from North Melbourne?

We as fans and members need to demand better from our clubs and from the league we support.

The first step should be a blanket rule that anyone facing criminal charges cannot play. They can get their pay and they can train but they should not be allowed to play.

Also the commentary team. Being a white dude who played footy does not actually mean you’re good at commentary. Why are men who have done awful things allowed to keep high paying jobs that they’re not even good at?
