Every day, but especially today, we remember & honor Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan, Sergeant Carson Holmquist, Lance Corporal Squire Skip Wells, Staff Sergeant David Wyatt, & Navy Petty Officer Second Class Randall Smith.

Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan was a Massachusetts man. His fellow Marines called him "Gunny." He loved to swim, & served 2 tours in Iraq. The Dropkick Murphys, his favorite band, played a concert in his honor after his death.

Sgt. Carson Holmquist called Wisconsin home. He loved trucks, riding dirt bikes & farming. He served a deployment in Japan & in Afghanistan as a diesel mechanic specialist. A highway is named in his honor: https://bit.ly/2GfuWbr

Lance Corporal Squire Skip Wells grew up near Atlanta. He played the clarinet, & a friend describes him as a "band nerd," & "just the goofiest kid." His 2nd-to-last text to his girlfriend was "Can't wait anymore," referring to her upcoming trip to visit him.

Staff Sergeant David Wyatt grew up in Arkansas, & achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, one of his proudest accomplishments. He joined the Marines after 9/11. He was active with Toys for Tots, & known for his dry humor.

Navy Petty Officer Second Class Randall Smith was active at his Fort Oglethorpe church. On Mother's Day 2015, he surprised his mom with a trip to his boyhood home in Ohio. His 3 daughters posthumously received his Purple Heart.
