Interesting seeing discussion of DI and how RE should teach interpretations as facts. I’ve been thinking a lot about interpretation as one of our disciplinary concepts and this article v helpful for that https://reflections.yale.edu/article/resistance-and-blessing-women-ministry-and-yds/bible-and-women-we-need-talk- thanks @YaleDivSchool 1/4
Maybe using the academic study of hermeneutics and hermeneutical approaches in our RE classes could be a way to incorporate DI whilst keeping the spirit of RE as a discipline of debate. 2/4
This would also ensure rigour as ‘debate’ is founded in sound disciplinary and academic foundations, hopefully preventing the fall into the ‘all discussion and debate is good RE’ approach.3/4
Just some initial musings would be interesting to hear more qualified people’s thoughts!! @TeamRE_UK @NATREupdate @missdcox @RE_McGEE @Ms_AtkinsRE @AndyLewis_RE @JPaddy 4/3
