We know #COVID19 has changed the world of work over the last few months. But how much of it is likely to last long-term, what& #39;s the impact on productivity and what are employers planning for?

We @CIPD have released some more data on this today.

Scottish employers expect that the proportion of people working from home on a regular basis once the crisis is over will increase to 37% compared to 16% before the pandemic.

They also expect 22% of employees to work from home all the time compared to 8% before lockdown. 2/6
That& #39;s more than a doubling of homeworking. But it is not the only type of flexible work arrangement and certainly won& #39;t suit everyone. It is important not to lose sight of other options.

Thankfully, it seems employers are preparing for this. 3/6
Our survey shows that 46% of Scottish employers plan to introduce new forms of flexible working post-pandemic - including homeworking, compressed hours, flexi-time or term-time working.

Many are seeing a positive impact on productivity and will be keen this continues. 4/6
In fact, when asked about productivity, 30% of Scottish employers believe the increase in homeworking has increased productivity or efficiency, compared to 26% reporting the opposite effect and 37% that don’t believe there has been any effect. 5/6

Of course, government has a role to play here too. Currently, employees have the legal right to request flexible working after 26 weeks. To support a proper shift to flexible work, @CIPD is calling on the UK Government to change this to a day 1 right. 6/6
