The government said that around 5.5 acres of public land had been allocated for construction of a college in 2018 upon which the Dalit couple, Ram Kumar Ahirwar and Savitri Devi had allegedly encroached.

Savitri Devi had even mentioned that the couple is unaware about the actual owners of the land and that they've been farming on that land since a while. This hints towards the fact that the land does not officially belong to the couple

Now comes the local strongman, Gabbu Pardi. Guna local administration has claimed that Pardi grabbed approx 12.5 acres of the public land and used the Dalit couple as pawns to reclaim that govt land. The Dalit couple had paid Rs. 3 lakh to Pardi & are in debt.

The couple, upon seeing the land being reclaimed by the govt and on coercion by Pardi, jumped into the fray and consumed pesticides in an attempt to commit suicide, so as to prevent the state revenue dept from building a wall around the land. That's when the cops intervened.

The cops are seen raining lathi blows on the family to evict the couple and certain visuals also show the family members having assaulted constables present on site. The police was also seen physically displacing the family members from the site.
