I swear, men (and way too many women), do not grok that disliking Clinton is rooted in a habit of despising women. Especially women who have or seek power. https://twitter.com/JamesSurowiecki/status/1283112554055770114
Look, when Clinton was Secretary of State she was the most popular person in the Obama cabinet. She retained that popularity well after she left the office.
It is only when the media fell for Sanders that they decided to attempt the same assassination of her character as in 2008.
They were mad it didn't work and that she kept trucking along. Winning the primary in a landslide also made them mad.
How dare this woman they all hated win?! Let's erase it and claim it was close!
They also deliberately ruined her carefully planned celebration at cinching the nomination by announcing she had done so the day before it became official. They did so knowing it would cause the blame to fall on her when they did AND let them act like she was wrong to be upset.
Then in the general: the assumption was, that despite Cheato kicking the asses of over a dozen Republicans including several serious contenders, he was a joke let the media continue to beat up on Clinton.
Who they gleefully lied about, mistreated, and overreacted to everything she did.

Which...is what *every woman* suffers who seeks power. But most women don't have a fifty year relationship with a lot of voters like Clinton does.
That's a big chunk of why Clinton managed to succeed while Warren, Gillibrand, Harris, Klobuchar, Mosley Braun, Chrisholm, and so many other women have failed.

There aren't a lot of ways for women to get that national level relationship with voters.
Men have well oiled paths to power and the White House.
Non-WASP men have a slightly rockier path (for instance, Biden's the second Catholic.)
Non-straight men, harder still.
Women's paths are relatively smooth to the House. Then start to be rocky to get to statewides. Then filled with boulders the higher the list of statewides.

The path to the Presidency is a solid cliff with precious few handholds filled with jelly.
Clinton succeeded to win the popular vote despite everything thrown at her. But there won't be another chance to do this until there's another chance for a woman to build that network Clinton had.

Even then, she has to be ready to endure the hatred women face for seeking power.
Hopefully having a woman VP will be what is needed. Who knows.

I just wish the media would accept-they produced the hated Clinton faced. She did nothing to deserve it.
