y'all remember when Mark Driscoll's church in Seattle was shut down after years of his abuse? He disappeared for a few months, came back, and is now pastoring another church.

very recent example: John Ortberg took a sabbatical after it was revealed he was covering for a pedophile in his church (who also happens to be his son), returned to the pulpit a few months later, and continued his cover up.

men like Driscoll, Ortberg, and Crist spent years harming and endangering people, went on a glorified vacay, returned to public life, and were immediately granted access and praise from their supporters.

This is a pattern that has been repeated many times over in Christian spaces and is proof that as long as abusive men are not removed from places of influence and are easily forgiven by their fans, there will be no safety or justice for victims.
