So some things I took away from the KCPS School board meeting this after pertaining to school opening. -Superintendent is very concerned with the health and safety of not only the students but also the staff
-Parents seem to be dead set on schools opening in person fully
-Parents seem to be dead set on schools opening in person fully
The overall feeling I got is because the parents are more interested in using school as a babysitter as opposed to the safety of their children or the staff.
-45% of the students did not participate or complete virtual class assignments even during the period parents WERE HOME
-45% of the students did not participate or complete virtual class assignments even during the period parents WERE HOME
-Parents are demanding Superintendent to provide brick and mortar education for the students and have no sympathy for the safety of staff "figure it out" mentality
-Superintendent made it very clear that he can not provide education services without a healthy and full staff

-Schools are not prepared for students to return safely at this time. No hand santizers stations have been installed, no partitions have been installed, no alternative drinking water dispensers have been installed and so forth
-Due to the lack of participation during virtual instruction at the end of last year and summer programs. Half the student enrollment are behind and will need extra instruction just to get back to where they were but that requires additional resources and with
Huge budget cuts given by the Governor that makes it extremely hard. Its all just a complete mess. Final word from superintendent before meeting east ended "If I don& #39;t ha e a healthy work force I can not provide for the students"
Oh and lastly... The superintendent himself said he woupd not be comfortable putting his own kids on school buses at this time and he has 3 in the district. Said he would 100% drive hia children but so many of our parents don& #39;t have transportation
