both javad and septima took advantage of the respective sibling& #39;s insecurities and issues to keep them under their thumb for as long as they did. they did have different dynamics though. "treat them poorly" was an understatement

javad with vilius was an iron fist and vilius was tortured at transgressions. septima and aetiliva was closer and more personal and manifested through less direct abuse and more so manipulation and emotional/mental abuse.

only towards the end of working together did septima start to use non-verbal force against aetiliva, and aetiliva lasted less time than vilius under that before she got fed up.
aetiliva& #39;s desertion was a long build-up, more time was spent tolerating. abuse more subtle

aetiliva& #39;s desertion was a long build-up, more time was spent tolerating being under septima& #39;s boot. vilius made up his mind a long time before but suffered harsh consequence that kept him in and from snapping and doing smth like aetiliva.
