10 reasons I'm still so excited about $TTD for the long term, a thread.
1. Jeff Green, founder and CEO of $TTD is one of the clearest speakers among all CEOs, with great insights and forecasts of where his industry is going. (1/10)
2. Unlike a lot of other companies growing at a fast pace, $TTD is very profitable. In each of the last 4 years, it had EBITDA margins of 30%+ and it also guided for 30% for 2020. The company has been profitable on a GAAP basis (!) every year since 2013. (2/10)
3. In the last 10 quarters, the average earnings beat of $TTD was 66.28%. That's simply amazing. You can see the numbers here, from @SeekingAlpha (3/10)
4. $TTD is in a huge market and is growing fast. Jeff Green:
"Global advertising will soon be a $1 trillion industry and we want to capture as much of that as possible and that means, we need to grow as fast as possible. But we will not do that irresponsibly." (4/10)
5. $TTD is usually very conservative in its guidance. Jeff Green again: "But that's largely because we think in the current environment it's prudent to be measured and we're more comfortable moving expectations up as we go." (5/10)
6. $TTD is in China and it factors in no revenue from there at all, so this may be a very pleasant surprise. Over the long term, China is a growth powerhouse and being able to catch a big part of that pie could be a huge boost. (6/10)
7. CTV or Connected TV is pure gold for $TTD. CTV spend grew 100% YoY in Q1 2020. Jeff Green: "We are in the middle of a once-in-a-lifetime consumer shift to connected devices and streaming content." (7/10)
8. There's more and more pressure on the walled gardens $GOOG $GOOGL and $FB about their lack of data protection and $TTD could profit.
Advertisers also see CTV as a way to break their dependence on walled gardens, who, says Jeff Green 'get to grade their own homework.' (8/10)
9. $TTD works in Europe (Channel 4, Sky Germany, ProSieben, RTL, TFI...) and Asia (Japan, China....) and the booming Southeast Asian market (Vietnam, Thailand...). Covid-19 has accelerated the transition to CTV worldwide. (9/10)
10. 95% of $TTD's employees like to work there vs. 59% of the average American company. It was the #2 in best workplaces in tech in 2019 for medium businesses. That's a huge advantage because talent can be retained and attracted much easier. (10/10)
