After 40 Minutes..

My tweet had this:

* 135 Impressions
* 41 Engagements
= 30.4% Engagement Rate

👉 If you're experiencing this weird thing..

.. where Twitter is taking FOREVER to show your tweets to your followers

Read this 👇

(WHAT'S UP WITH THE ALGORITHM? ~ Thread) 📉
1.

Yes..

I feel your pain 🙄

* You're used to putting out a tweet and within a few minutes, your followers actually SEE that tweet..

But recently..

Something weeeeeeird has been going on 🤔

(cont..)
2.

Those same tweets you used to put out weeks ago..

.. are now taking HOURS to reach your followers (if at all)..

But no need to worry..

I've got your back..

(Let's chat) 😎👇
3.

Now I haven't 'completely' figured this out..

But I have an interesting observation that you're going to enjoy 👀..

Yes..

Twitter has made a change to their algorithm..

.. But what changes did they make?

(cont..)
4.

First..

~ Let me describe what I've been experiencing:

a.) I put out a tweet
b.) 30 minutes pass
c.) Only 100-200 impressions

(Keep in mind.. I have 3350 followers)

After this..

1 of 2 things happen..

(cont..) 👇
5.

Situation 1: The tweet's engagement % is high 👍

Situation 2: The tweet's engagement % is low.. 👎

** Let's talk about Situation 1 ⬇️
6.

A tweet of mine from yesterday..

Had:

- 50 Impressions
- 24 Engagements

(48% rate)

After 30-40 minutes..

* That's a fantastic rate..
** But Twitter said F*CK my tweet 😅

(or did they?)..
7.

Let's just say..

The tweet ended up doing pretty well:

+ But why did it receive such terrible reach at the beginning?

(Here's my interpretation) 👇
8.

When you initially put out a tweet..

* Who does Twitter show your tweet to?

- Your most loyal & engaging followers! 💎

* Why does this matter?

- Because if even your TOP followers choose NOT to engage with your tweet..

Your tweet probably won't perform well at all.

👇
9.

If you run into something like:

* 50 Impressions
* 2 Engagements
(4% rate)

That means even your most ACTIVE followers gave your tweet a big fat "❌"..

- And when this happens..

Expect the tweet to continue receiving poor reach throughout the day.
10.

That being said:

If your tweet has GREAT engagement right off the bat..

you may still experience slow reach, but it will gradually increase throughout 24hrs and it should:

1.) Reach MORE people than average

OR

2.) Similar to what you are used to..

Now why is this?🤔👇
11.

Personally...

I think Twitter is choosing to show your tweet to your followers at various times of the day

.. rather than showing it to ALL of them at once..

👉 This rewards QUALITY tweets by putting them out all-day long 📈

and punishes the tweets that perform poorly 📉
12.

This ALSO makes sense because:

- Twitter wants their users to have the best experience possible

(meaning they want to show people the "best tweets") 👀

cont.. 👇
13.

Of course..

This IS all speculation..

.. But I've been experimenting with a few things

and almost ALL of my tweets have received above-average engagement..

> This is simply MY breakdown of everything..

.. but it seems to make a ton of sense 🧠

(cont..)
14.

What does this mean for Tweeters ❓❔

🔑 QUALITY > QUANTITY

* I've never been a fan of tweeting 8-12 times per day..

** 3-4 seems to be the sweet spot for me & even @DivCultivator has gained 2500 followers THIS month from 1-3 tweets/day 🔥

Look: https://twitter.com/DivCultivator/status/1266835329727770631?s=20
15.

I must add:

Putting out a ton of tweets is only beneficial if you want to increase the odds of something "catching" 🎣

* However!

If you "know how the game works"..

.. and are capable of getting 10-20% engagement on all your tweets

** Stick to 2-4/day 👍
16.

All I've got left to say is:

+ Understand how to adapt
+ Focus on Quality > Quantity
+ Learn what makes people engage with tweets

and good luck out there! 🍀
