Everyone knows this but I love that I can hear the page. Ryuu and Tora yelling at each other against the net. It's loud but not as loud as the girls cheering for the respective teams. And even louder is the VIBRATION and SOUL of the match. Tora(tiger) Vs Ryuu(dragon) https://twitter.com/alachat_/status/1283494602192846848
I can hear the roar of the stadium . Furudate is so good man.
Man watch me talk about this one fucking colour page the dragon and tiger symbolism is SO good.
Dragons are the celestial guardians of the East. Conveniently placed behind the Tanakas.
Dragons also represent the sky in the sky Vs ground conflict which is convenient because Karasuno is the sky aspect of this rivalry.
The tiger is behind Akane and Tora (nice touch ) symbolising the fated rival of the dragon that deals with th GROUND aspect. UK like Nekoma
What's really interesting though is what the Dragon and Tiger represent metaphorically. Dragon is more associated with a calm approach, less offensive and more held together. Patient and wise. Tiger is relentless attacking , bulldozing through the opponents , offensive style.
Except the Dragon is behind Karasuno which is known more for offensive strategy and the Tiger is behind Nekoma which is known more for its incredible defensive strategy.
I like to thing, this is on purpose. The teams learnt from each other that there are different ways of fighting and playing that can be useful . They learnt FROM EACH OTHER and use that in the match
Karasuno and Nekoma step out of their comfort zone too and go AGAINST their usual playing styles and in turn represent the two animals behind them . This is especially shown through the main control heads , the setters
"Kageyama is no longer a prisoner of speed." In this match, Kageyama represents the dragon more. Patient and calculated. Nothing shows this better than that gorgeous slow high toss for Hinata.
Kenma however shows the opposite of the usual cool, calm , calculated collected nature he usually does. He exerts , he tries, he's aggressive. Highly influences by the fact that they are playing against Karasuno and Hinata. He represents the tiger more in this match
I could talk forever but honestly this thread literally wasn't planned and I'm slightly sorry for the spam lmao. I am
late to the realisation train. But I think it's so cool how Furudate incorporates ancient Chinese Buddhist symbolism and Feng Shui in a VOLLEYBALL MATCH
Obviously Kageyam and Hinata but also with Karasuno and Nekoma? This is GOAT , Furudate is GOAT. I can't believe I made a thread on a colour page, who is this mangaka and how incredible can Haikyuu get?
