I really wish folks would stop erasing the existence of every Christian tradition that isn’t white supremacist. It’s problematic on so many levels, both theologically & historically. Christianity began in N. Africa & Middle East & pre-dates existence of all the European nations.
Just because European colonizers say something is so doesn’t make it so.
There are Christian churches in Africa that pre-date any European traditions. Ignoring that in forming an analysis of a 2000+ year old religion is not a decolonized viewpoint because you’re accepting as a premise that Christianity is inherently white & European, which is false.
& acting like every Black Christian must be an adherent of slave master colonizer Christianity b/c there is no tradition apart from that one is also a WILD erasure of Black history. It presumes Black ppl are/were incapable of developing our own theological traditions. Also false.
Please stop doing this

We have centuries-old traditions of Black churches in America that were founded by enslaved people who held service in secret out of view of their masters, that are more theologically accurate & aligned with the scriptures than anything white supremacists ever created.
Again, please stop erasing this rich & vibrant part of Black history.
Everyone does not have white Jesus on the wall nor was this ever always so. The Black liberation tradition of viewing God as one who intervenes for the oppressed is more consistent with the earliest Christian traditions than the Curse of Ham theology pushed by Euro colonizers.
I’m just saying you’ve really got to be willing to study the many facets of a religion before you assign these blanket statements onto them. That goes for any religion and faith tradition. There’s a reason why theology is an entire field of study.
