in:re Caltrain but also other things. one thing I've learned over and over from having a broader network of friends & colleagues in housing & transit, is that there's always a ton of esoteric backstory behind ppl's positions and the Online Dunk Cycle is off base almost every time
the "real story" from talking to community orgs, leg aides to electeds, candidate campaign managers, nonprofit types, voters, tenants, whatever, is always like Rashomon level confusing. then you go on here and everyone is just BUH LET ME YELL AT SOMEONE I DON'T LIKE
quietly sometimes someone I know in a different circle will intentionally tweet the same thing as me, and get a totally different reaction. it's all about who you think you like already. and most of the Twitter Caltrain discourse is at roughly this level of intelligence
turning intentionally undemocratic and byzantine land use & transit policy into an online parlor game / war of all against all was one of the stupidest developments the Bay Area has ever pioneered. and that's saying something
