So while talking with @alachat_ I told her about how these panels make me rolled my eyes in ectasy because Grandpa Kags taught Tobio something really important: personal maintenance, aka
SELF-MAINTENANCE
.

This topic itâs only in two frigging panels, no more. Just two panels. Here is when Grandpa Kags teachs Tobio that personal maintenance is just as IMPORTANT as practice. And Grandpa Kags is ABSOLUTLY RIGHT.
My reaction while reading this panel was
Why? This is the first time, that I read a piece of manga stating the importance of self-maintenance, so yes, CHIBI TOBIO AMAZED FACE, I can relate because I bet I made that face when my female feminist friends told me about
SELF MAINTENANCE

So whatâs self-maintenance, well, directly of the dictonary it means: the act or process of attending and caring for oneself. In other simpleton words, is how you TREAT YOSELF!
The importance of this lesson, actually makes a lot of sense in the character, I remember this panel and it was funny at first but after reading that chapter you understand that Kags was tought to take care of himself, that means: eat your three meals (or five), sleep well >
> drinking your water, but self-maintenance is not just only physical well-being but also, emotional well-being. It englobes everything you. Personal-maintenance is so important that it affects your personal relationships, world views, mind set, work/study performance, etc.
And Grandpa Kags taught Tobio how to be good to himself. Yes, itâs ok to practice a lot of voleyball, but you also need to take care of yourself, you need to rest, study and also do other stuff that itâs nos training. Another figures teaching this are the Sensei and Ukai.
And it may be it sound sillly that someone needs to teach you how to take care of yourself, but itâs actually necessary and the saddest part is that almost no one is taught how to care for ourselves. How not to overkill us, how not to hurt ourselves.
So, seriously Grandpa Kags is really amazing and Tobio had a really great mentor/father figure. He was just damn blessed, bc he taught him that tons of important shit that any of us would comfort on knowing. That includes âBE GOOD TO YOURSELFâ.
