HK Police and how they serve capital: a thread

HK corporate interests almost entirely backed the CCP during the HK protests. HK capital didn't feel threatened until they saw protestors shutting down the city, impeding the flow of capital and shutting down the economy. 1/8
Only then did they feel threatened. The police in Hong Kong are US trained, and are servants of capital. Only when the protests hurt the economy where they deployed in large numbers, trying to shut down resistance and allow the economy to work efficiently again. 2/8
-the hk police are not a proleterian police force composed of communists protecting the revolution, they are servants of capital that act almost identically to US police, including in tactics, from the way they tear gassed crowds, drove cars through them, and fired 3/8
-rubber bullets into crowds. So when you deep throat boots to defend Hong Kong police, remember that they are direct servants of capitalism, and that Hong Kong capital was fully in favor of China as China was making them a fuck load of money. This wasn't a CIA backed coup. 4/8
Now, onto my next point which is that while the CIA etc did fund people to speak on national media, it was for American audiences. Both sides are painting this image of Hong Kong as nationalistic reactionaries that love america, but that simply isn't the case. 5/8
the Hong Kong protests were decentralized at their core, and anyone claiming to be a leader when talking to the western press was LIKELY western funded. They did not represent the actual movement. They were only there to help the US manufacture consent for an intervention- 6/8
-the chinese press largely followed the line of calling the HK protestors terrorists and violent thugs, funded by the CIA, intent on allowing american invasion of china etc. Neither side is a reliable source here, both have direct interests in the region. 7/8
In conclusion, your view of the protestors are likely largely colored by a mix of propoganda from either side, and it would do you well to actually learn about the protests from people that live there and aren't clearly CIA funded posers, or CCP propagandists. 8/8
Now one final addendum, the HK protests have a long history leading up to them, including the Umbrella revolution in 2014, and about a decade of unrest from Chinese policies. This didn't come out of nowhere. The CIA didn't pay every protester a check to get this started.
