At the P&C we get our COVID-19 data directly from SC's state health agency. We don't use data from the CDC. And this is how most tracking projects work. So the thing where the White House is telling hospitals to bypass the CDC is unlikely to affect the numbers you see.
One of the most popular sources of data, @COVID19Tracking, works this way. They scrape data every day from all the state/local agencies, not from the feds.
We use some @COVID19Tracking data to power a few of our visualizations, but most of our dashboard is powered by a database we're maintaining independently. If anything were to compromise the integrity of that data, I promise I will alert you to that.
