An apology. Please read this thread:
On May 29th I was reeling with the news of George Floyd’s murder and everything that was happening around the country. My friend called and we were talking, getting more and more upset by the rampant racism on display in our world. (1/x)
Racism towards every person of color. In an effort to show support, & not stay silent, I tweeted out what turned out to be the exact wrong hashtag: all lives matter. To me it meant that I was thinking abt anyone racism touches. The black community, people of color, anyone. (2/x)
It was about an hour later I received a DM, starting a discussion about how that is NOT an appropriate hashtag. By tweeting that, I had inadvertently diminished George Floyd’s life, and all black lives around the world. (3/x)
I felt terrible about what I had done, and I know I had made a huge mistake. This was not my intention at all, and I immediately deleted the tweet. I do not believe in that hashtag. I believe that Black Lives Matter.
(4/x)
And one thing I can do about this belief is take action in the fan community. I will continue to promote positivity, but this mistake is the drive behind my intention to unapologetically promote diversity in anything I am involved in moving forward.
