Hon. (Prince) Boniface Muyogoma Byanyima is a great- grandson of Kyamufumba Kya Ndagara Rwamigano, eldest son of Omukama Ndagara, the last King of independent Buhweju kingdom. Kyamufumba is also one of the names of Byanyima's grandson, Anselm Kizza-Besigye.
Byanyima was a former teacher, MP and Democratic Party national chairperson, who married Gertrude Kabwasingo, a fellow teacher, entrepreneur, activist and politician in her own right.
Buhweju kingdom, whose royal clan were the "Bariisa" was conquered by the British and added to the colonial monstrosity of Ankole. Byanyima is quoted to have, in 2013 told the residents of the current district that goes by the name of the ancient kingdom to “avoid prejudice".
He added that: "They under look Buhweju, they want to throw there everything bad. But Buhweju is not a garbage (heap). It is an area that God created and put on top of all other places.”
The native nationalities conquered and subjugated by British imperialism to create Uganda are traceable.
